Caroline has been playing Celtic music since her teens, involved in bush bands since 1987 in Tasmania, Queensland, and in NSW with the Gang Gangs. She plays Irish whistle, recorder and Celtic harp. She also enjoys dancing and teaching the social dances from our history. Caroline is a top shelf musician and has a great passion for dance.
Erst is a foundation member of the Gang Gangs. A true folkie. Guitarist, percussion and back up vocals are her forte. Erst is one of those people with the rare gift of being able to see the good in things even when they are a little bit bleak.
Katriona has been playing violin since she was a kid. She plays with enormous vigor and passion. She is always eager and willing to lend her support for any charitable event. It's often hard to pin down her whereabouts though, as she spends a lot of time travelling.
Mike is a foundation member of the Gang Gangs. He plays recorder, harmonica and sings. Mike is a
real live wire and larrikin. Mike is the heart and soul of the group, the cheese in the cheese cake, the baked in the beans.
Duncan is our experienced Caller and MC. He has a way about him that makes dancers feel relaxed and wanting more.
Nick is an accomplished guitarist. I have heard two stories about Nick: one is that he taught himself to play guitar whilst riding a camel through the Strzelecki desert and the other one is that he spent a bit of his youth at the Conservatorium. I think I like the first story best.
Steve is a rusted on old folkie and general layabout. A bit of a recluse who plays banjo, guitar and sings. He has been known to dabble as a pretend sound man.
A special note of thanks to Bruce McKenzie for the beautiful photographs used on this site and my baby Zena (a creative genius).
